Katrina
I just turned on the TV for the first time today saw the images of the devastation. I have no words. My possessions seem very frivolous right now.

A real update will have to wait. It's been months, so another day or two won't make a difference. I will say, though, that I had an exciting, exhausting and rewarding summer. School starts Tuesday.

Off to wire money to a relief agency.

I agree that it's horrific in New Orleans. As I said yesterday, sending money to a relief agency seems so inadequate and yet there is very little else that can be done.

By the way ---- love your userpic! How did you make it?

They have lots of options so it's possible to create an icon that actually bears a passing resemblance to yourself. I went through a lot of draft icons before I settled on the one I have. My eyes are too big and my hair is too long, but otherwise I'm happy with it.

I want to offer condolences on the H/H fiasco. Though I didn't think JKR was going there based on how she had structured the book and the trio, there's no excuse for the treatment being dished out. It's like all things -- some really good theories went out with the trash, and some of the oddest (remember Toadkeeper?) were surprisingly close to the mark.

Thanks for your kind thoughts on the H/H stuff ---- "fiasco" is a good word for it. I do hate being wrong, but I would just be disappointed, not devastated, if it had been merely being a matter of simply being "wrong." What's devastating is to have Rowling laughing along with them at our expense. I'm having an awfully hard time moving past *that* part of it. I can't fathom how she could have wanted them to release the full transcript, since the consequences of fandom blowup were readily forseeable.

Toadkeeper? No, don't remember that one. I always had trouble with the acronym theories. :--)
