I know exactly what you mean about the camping section. I hit a real low with that bit as well and had to force myself on, but wasn't tempted to look ahead!
On Colin Creevy - I think they're half-blood. At least, he and Denis are brought up by their milkman father, and no mention is made of the mother, who was probably a witch. I prefer to think that, rather than it being a Flint.
